The character I’m probably most like in real life is Samwell Tarly. Good old Sam. And the character I’d want to be? Well who wouldn’t want to be Jon Snow — the brooding, Byronic, romantic hero whom all the girls love. Theon [Greyjoy] is the one I’d fear becoming. Theon wants to be Jon Snow, but he can’t do it. He keeps making the wrong decisions. He keeps giving into to his own selfish, worst impulses.
In some senses, Theon is struggling all the way through to be a hero. They both come out of the same situation: they’re both raised in Winterfell by Eddard Stark, but they’re not part of the real, core family. Theon is a ward, and Jon Snow is a bastard son. So they’re both a little outside, but Jon handles this successfully, and Theon fails to handle this. He is poisoned by his own envy and his sense of not belonging.

it never ceases to amuse me that tywin lannister, when faced with the prospect of balding naturally, decided to just shave his whole head because he didn’t believe in “half measures”

I redid my old piece of Catelyn on her wedding day. ;u; Not that I mind the original, I just wanted to compare where I’m at now vs 5 years ago. (Also I’ve been slowly making my way through the Clash of Kings audiobook and her chapters are giving me Feelings again.)
truly, my love for polarizing female characters is deep and unabiding.
“Without her dragons Dany would have died early on in the books” or “Without her dragons Dany is nothing”
okay… without his direwolf, Bran would have died in the very first book
without his direwolf, Jon would have been murdered by an ice zombie in the very first book and by qhorin halfhand in the second book
robb’s direwolf sensed danger the night he was murdered
but i don’t see anyone playing down any of their achievements bc they had a mythical beast saving their ass when they needed it most
i know there’s more examples but remember when jon tried to desert the night watch’s but had his location given away by ghost? do you know what the punishment for desertion is?
death. the punishment is death.
sometimes people have to go through hell to get their starter pokemon
honestly. we are so lucky that we have a pokemon lab in our town of 6 people, that the professor is our next door neighbor, and his son/grandson is our childhood friend. we have everything handed to us!
