i went to the public library of the county i go to school in to see if i could get a library card and while i was waiting in line this little girl pulls up beside me and i considered talking to her just to pass the time. it’s a good thing i didnt because i wasn’t allowed to get a library card and imagine if that girl expected to come back and talk to her at the library again some day!! that would be so sad!!
we don’t stand for “”“game of thrones”“” around here, we stab our enemies /ourselves/, we have brighter colors and better lighting and sometimes we do take a break from the stabbing to commission some paintings and get some sleep
i did name two of my sons francesco but i waited until francesco 1.0 died of a fever to name my next child francesco i’m not an animal you know
i am going to reblog your post again and say that my daughters are named antonia prima, antonia maior, and antonia minor, and my son is named gaius like me, my father, and his uncle, but at least when we divorce (with a good reason if you are a real man) we take care of our other children. and definetely don’t put the republic in danger for a omen/prophecy.
I mean if you want to use his evidence of remorse as an indication that he is redeemable, then there’s no good reason to omit Tyrion from that possibility too. I’m not even sure that Jaime’s crimes outweigh Cersei’s; Jaime is definitely responsible for Bran’s injury and has made threats against children, but Cersei ordered the murders of several of Robert’s bastards, who were all children.
All three of them have done terrible things, and it’s sort of… difficult? Strange? To establish a ranking system on who’s worse and why, as it feels like we’re assigning Bad Points based on the severity of the crime.
Where Cersei in particular differs than her brothers is that she is not regretful of most of the things she’s done. She is very focused on protecting herself and her title, and doesn’t care who stands in the way. You have to remember that out of all three, it’s Cersei who idolizes their father most and purposefully tries to make herself more like him. Her problem is that she is not as calculated as Tywin, not by a long shot.
there’s one study behind a paywall where 300 victims of strangulation were interviewed and 99% of the victims were women. that’s extremely scary and extremely sad.
When I say “I don’t believe that the severity of the punishment should match the severity of the crimes”, what I’m saying is that I much prefer the Stark way of approaching crime: the facts are laid out, you’re given a chance to defend yourself, and then depending on what you did, you’re punished for it. If you kill one person, you’re beheaded, if you kill 100 people but also torture and mutilate them, you’re still beheaded with no other punishment attached. I just don’t believe in systems where “if this person did x to a person, then kills them, they should have x done to them too”.
Redemption is something a lot of people want for their favorite characters, but I’m wary of it. Some people just can’t be redeemed.
