re: the post i just reblogged i would also argue that theon’s manner of entering the stark household isn’t exactly conducive to being able to “successfully” handle being an outsider. jon at the very least has the advantage of being siblings to the stark children, genuinely loved by ned, and has been at winterfell ever since he was a baby. it’s easier to handle being an outsider when you’re in an environment that’s familiar, with people you can trust and who have known you your whole life. contrast that with theon, who was removed from the place he had called home for nine years and isolated from his true family to be a glorified hostage at winterfell. he handles it “successfully” at first, even becoming close to the starks and robb in particular, but what lures him away from that loyalty is his past, and his true family. jon had the advantage of calling the starks his blood; theon did not.
